5 Essential Skincare Oils That Will Change Your Life

July 14, 2017

I’ve always paid extra attention to my skin. I mean, hey. I’m all for covering up acne scars and unsightly zits, but what if you didn’t have to worry about covering up in the first place? As you’ll read on the Marinello beauty blog, your skin needs some serious looking after, you guys.

I’m a strong advocate for face masks, massages, steams and bed-time skin care routines (who doesn’t love a bit of pampering every once in a while, eh?), but what I’ve recently discovered is my love for natural oils.

After a lot of experimenting and searching, I finally found natural oils that changed everything for me. Here are 5 essential skincare oils that will Change. Your. Life.

Coconut oil

Would you believe this incredible oil has antibacterial properties and has been known to minimize the look of pores and help reduce fine lines? It’s also really easy to find so if you’re anticipating a wild goose chase, you’d be wrong.

Simply massage a few drops into your skin after washing your face and then wipe it off with a washcloth dipped in lukewarm water. Added benefit? Its moisturizing properties will have you waking up to baby soft skin every morning.

Tea tree oil

Can I get a hell yeah?! I can’t get enough of this oil. It has been known to help soothe acne, sunburns, help reduce rashes and the list just goes on and on. My favorite way to use tea tree oil is in a herbal face steam that has helped keep my pores clean and skin glowing.

Just add a few drops of tea tree oil along with a teaspoon of green tea to a bowl of boiling hot water and let it boil for for a few minutes. And that’s it! Cover your head over the bowl with a towel and enjoy the steam for 6-7 minutes. Your skin will thank you for it in the morning!

Argan oil

Argan oil has been called ‘liquid gold’ by a lot of people. You’ll see why once you start using it. I first started using argan oil for my hair and it was only a matter of time before I started using it on my skin, and there was no turning back. At first I started using it after my daily morning cleanse.

Just a couple of drops massaged into the skin and pretty soon I found that it worked wonders in managing excess oils and dehydration. My skin looks clearer; which means I no longer have to deal with itchy, dry or irritated skin, and what I’m most amazed about? Face so smooth, I can’t even recognize it as my own!

Helichrysum

Let’s talk about dark spots for a second. We’ve all had to deal with acne scars, dark spots and generally poor skin thanks to raging hormones. But what if you were told you could get rid of dark spots for good? A few drops of this baby mixed into argan oil, use twice a day and you’ll know exactly what I mean.

Lemongrass oil

Think your skin needs toning? Then lemongrass oil is your man. Lemongrass’s antimicrobial, anti-fungal and antibacterial properties make it my favorite go-to choice for a natural toner. I use it in a mask when combined with a couple of tablespoons of raw honey, 3 drops of tea tree oil and 2-3 drops of lemongrass oil.

Apply this to your face for about 15 minutes every morning before washing off. Not only will you notice your blemishes disappearing, but you will also find your skin feeling soft and supple throughout the day.
